The fundamental problem with teachers today is that they are locked in with the bureacracy's of the public schools. No one can make a teacher by sending someone to a teaching college. A true teacher is made when a sincere person takes a genuine interest in a subject such as music or math and performs an intensive on-going self-study of the subject. A good, effective teacher is a rare commodity, for she/he has the life experience to answer any question about the subject being taught that a student may ask. Through the vast experience of the teacher students develop confidence in their abilities and are presented new views on the subject that are often not even in the book used in the course being taught. A good teacher motivates the students by clearly describing how the math or music, etc., will actually help them in their lives. Two teachers just talking or a teacher attending a professional development session will not often bring forth the depth of ideas required to teach students properly because most developers don't have the background themselves to be called good effective teachers.
