The recent report by Hank Becker and Margaret Riel called "Teacher Professionalism and the Emergence of Constructivist-Compatible Pedagogies"
( http://www.crito.uci.edu/tlc/findings/special_report2/index.htm) adds an interesting perspective along similar lines.

This report, which comes out of the Teaching, Learning and Computing 1998 survey, argues (in part) that it is those teachers who act in the most collegial and collaborative ways with each other who are most likely to engage students in work that is collaborative and constructivist. The authors are reflecting mainly on how teachers use Internet technologies, both for their own professional development and as an instructional tool with students, but their overall point is more general.
