What a treat to see Aaron Listhaus describe the need for teachers to be involved in their own professional development issues. He said, when teachers are "told how to solve
their problems, they come to believe that the expertise to solve their problems lies outside the school." Meaning NOT with them.

Just thinking about this helps teachers to redfine how their needs are met. Until they come to this realization, they can't advocate for thier needs effectively.

Lets think about how this can be faciliated in a school district.
? Do schools conduct a survey of teacher needs and interests?
? Is there structure in the district for the teachers to faciliate program for each other?
? Has the local Teachers'Union undertaken funding and planning for district professional development?
