Planning and support committees

Message:

My work involves planning technology-related professional development for school administrators. It is important that I have school administrators on advisory groups for these programs. Currently I am working on the design and implementation of a program that is largely funded through the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. The program has an advisory group that includes principals from elementary, middle and high schools, as well as some superintendents. A representative of the North Carolina Business Committee for Education brings the perspective of our local businesses to the table, and serves as a vehicle for getting information about our program back to them. Representatives from our administrators' organizations also add a valuable perspective to our planning.

People seem pleased to serve on these planning and support committees. I hold face-to-face meetings only when there are issues to discuss. When there is information to disseminate, it is done via email. I try to let people know what the commitment will entail (number of meetings, dates, time outside of meetings, etc.) when I invite them to participate.
