Topic:
Support for Teaching With Technology

Message:
Many schools have invested large sums of money for technology and are now at the implementation stage of integrating it effectively into the classrooms. I think that having a support person for the teachers who are working to use technology as an instructional tool in the classroom is a high priority. I continually meet teachers who say they would do more with the technology they have if they had someone to show them different ways to use it and time to develop units and lesson plans that incorporate using technology in a meaningful way.

A true support person would have to have four things:

  1. Knowledge of software and hardware.
  2. Knowledge of educational practices and assessments.
  3. An ability to train teachers in a non-threatening and meaningful way.
  4. A belief that effective technology integration can make a difference.

If you could find someone like that, I would say it would be a high priority.
