Topic:
John Rinaldi: Leadership for Systemic Integration

Message:

I believe that the movement to implement technology into schools has not fully considered the critical aspect of leadership. Although, leadership does not necessarily start with the administration, I believe, that, without the administration taking ownership for technology use and actively promoting its integration into the classroom, we stand little chance for success.

More often than not, I find schools, which are struggling to effectively use technology, have little support from the top. This results in some excellent implementation strategies at the classroom level, but very seldom leads to systematic integration.

Principals and central office administrators are probably the audience with the least amount of time to truly understand the Information Age we are in. To be successful, we must find a way to ensure that work with school technology is among their top priorities.
