Leadership for Systemic In

I can't agree with you more. Although the principal at elementary school I worked with in Kaua'i supported technology, her lack of understanding of the topic was frustrating to me as the school technology coordinator. I was able to observe the technology center at another elementary school (Wilcox Elementary School) where the principal was actively involved in so many of the technology aspects--computers, video, audio, and even using microphones and speakers in the kindergarten classes to help children hear the teacher--that their technology center was state-of-the-art. He gave full support to the technology center, making it a prime concern on his agenda. The results were incredible. I observed students (elementary grade students) who created video "shows", were exposed to the stars, wrote computer programs (several winning honors for their efforts), and all age levels using both pcs and Macs.
Without adminstrators being knowledgeable, they cannot understand the requirements for fully integrating technology into a classroom.
