3. We (the Information Technology Committee) work very hard to help our administration, school boards and community realize that it is not productive to proceed with hardware and software acquisition if dollars are not allocated for professional development, replacement costs, support and sustainability. We have moved our support system to include a full time staff development person for technology in each of our 5 buildings along with a full time network specialist and a pc maintenance specialist. To support 4400 students and 800 staff members we have approximately 2000 pc's on our network and are on a five year replacement schedule. We are most candid in publicizing the need for insuring that the system works and that teachers are given the opportunity to learn how to effectively utilize the technology. Without this commitment, we should not proceed with an implementation scheme bound to fail.
