Topic:
School In-Service Provides Strategies

Message:
Dennis (my brother and another online panelist in this discussion) and I have done in-service for other schools and presented at local, state and national level on literacy in the content area. I typically begin my end of the "show" with some of my students' work. I actually bring tests and assignments that have some of the strategies discussed here. Most of the responses are to the effect "I need to try that!" After a short period, many of the participants are dreaming up their own variations of these tools for their room and/or level.

I must admit, many times after a presentation or in-service, I bring back ideas from the participants that may also help me make progress. Much of this comes from the fact that not all we do is for math teachers.
