Art supply budget

Message:
While it is wonderful to have a large enough budget for the students to have the best paints, brushes, pencils, canvases, paper, etc. it is not necessary to have a large budget to have your students make creative art. I have worked for the Taunton Boys' and Girls' Club Summer Camp as the art director for the past two years. As a non-profit organization, I am given the basic materials at the beginning of the summer--construction paper, pencils, foam, googly eyes, glue, and a few other supplies. However, in the art room is much more--milk cartons, flower pots, newspaper, wallpaper, magazine, fabric, hot glue glitter sticks, bottle caps...just to name a few. I have become more creative in my projects with the kids, just in trying to use these other supplies! I found that this summer, I actually used less of the supplies my boss had given me, and the kids had more fun with they options they had.
