Topic:
There's an artist inside all of us

Message:
Choice-based art education should not be limited only to students without special needs. In many respects we have special needs. The goal of a choice-based art education program is to allow all students to express themselves in an artistic way that is most comfortable and enjoyable to each student, reguardless of physical or mental ability. The only way a classroom needs to modify its choice-based program is the rearrangement of furniture to make the classroom as accessible as possible for all students. In addition, the inclusion of occupational and/or speech therapists should be used in small groups so students can get the help they need without interuption. Every student in the classroom will need help in some way so it is important to provide an environment that allows all students to express their own ideas and creativity. There's an artist inside all of us, and no education program should prevent that artist from emerging!
