Mentoring

Message:
If I was mentoring a teacher who was interested in across the board content literacy I would select teachers for that person to work with who were open to new ideas. In my school I discovered that some of the teachers most open to change were the veteran teachers. When I was in their class I learned so much about teaching and crossing the literacy line. Because of the student's backgrounds the specifics of the classes such as math and social studies had to be taught with examples in not only math but social issues or saying "you might find this information in other classes." I felt that these teachers would be beneficial for another teacher to actually see the curriculum being merged into other classes.
