Author: Richard Garcia Title: Principal Role: Building admin/coordinator Location: Boulder, CO Date: 03-22-01 I once knew a wonderful principal, who had the most energy and the biggest heart that I have ever seen on a person. Naomi Grothjan passed away a number of years ago but her legacy still lives. This person had a vision and that vision was to have an experiential school. I remember going to many evening meetings at her house where one would encounter people form all walks of life. All of these people were stakeholders of her school. they inculed the superintendent, the executive director of elementary education, professors from the university community business leaders, businees people nad last but not least and the most important the families from her school. This group of people gave rise to the University Hill Elementary School an experiential and bilingual school. She facilitated the meetings and the stakeholders all became owners of this wonderful mission and philosophy that has had two decades of producing highly successful children form all races.
