The change that has to happen is a BIG shift away from the culture of schools today. It's not just a culture of "covering" content--it's also a culture of hierarchy, misplaced power, one-upsmanship, unhealthy competition... (okay, so maybe it's not all that bad). The point is that it's a rare school that fosters innovation or collaboration by shifting the culture rather than mandating innovation and collaboration.
