Here is my choice tidbit - materials change-over after vacation! I am removing all the markers because no one is exploring any other drawing materials and the 1st grade boys are making the same drawings week after week after week... So as of next Monday, they will be forced to encounter new experiences with materials. And the 3-D center will have new materials too, as we have grown weary of tubes and cardboard. Hoping to move into kinetic arenas... and spacial exploration (of the art kind, not outer space).

Luckyville, our (school-wide project) Box City was a HUGE hit. Everyone loved it - kids, parents, staff. It was unbelievably awesome - an entire city built by kids filling the gym. I'll let you know when it is on the web so you can see it.

...And to update: removing the markers was the best thing I ever did. The drawings last week were thoughtful, artistic and beautiful. We will spend a month minus markers to allow the drawing folk to develop new repetoires. I'm optimistic about this one.
