I really like Kathy Douglas' use of an art show as part of her assessment for the third graders in her art classes. By allowing the students pick out what they feel is their best work the teacher is able to assess work that the student really put effort into and feel is their best work. Having the students dictate their thoughts on their art work is also great experience with personal expression. The best part of Kathy Douglas' set up is that everything is designed in a way that allows all students in the class to succeed in their own way.
