The Policy
As part of its mission to improve K-12 mathematics and science teaching and learning, the Eisenhower National Clearinghouse (ENC) collects information about incorporating inquiry and problem solving into mathematics instruction. Drawing from standards as stated in Principles and Standards for School Mathematics (PSSM, 2000) from the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM), ENC has identified in its magazine ENC Focus, as well as in its CD-ROMs, resources and practices for helping educators encourage student problem solving in the middle school mathematics classroom.
