Ms. Owen is presently employed as the Community Liaison/Grant Writer for the Calloway County School District in Murray, Kentucky, where her duties include writing grants, promoting the district, coordinating projects between the schools and community, and assisting with the web site. She is currently working on writing grants to provide funding to expand the use of technology in the district. Ms. Owen holds a Rank 1 in Educational Administration from Murray State University and has experience as a high school English teacher, K-12 media specialist, assistant principal, and board office administrator. She is a published author and has received the IBM Technology Teacher of the Year Award, the South Fulton-Fulton Business and Professional Women's Woman of Achievement Award, and was recognized in 1999, along with a fellow teacher, for the SEIR-TEC at AEL "Best Practices in Instructional Technology" Award. She has worked with networks, labs, hardware, software, technical trouble-shooting, and assorted peripherals. She served on a curriculum planning committee for the Western Kentucky Cooperative and assisted in applying for a federal Gear Up Grant and a federal 21st Community Center Grant in which technology played a major component. Ms. Owen was a district technology coordinator for seven years with the Fulton Independent School District and was a regional trainer for the Western Kentucky Cooperative for three years, training teachers on how to implement technology into their classrooms. She has conducted technology training for businesses and the community. In addition, Ms. Owen worked with the Murray State University Kentucky Academy for Technology Education (KATE), which received a Bell South Foundation Grant for training teachers in the use of technology in their classrooms.
