Sandra Scott

Social Studies Teacher

Formerly a paralegal with two law firms Ms. Sandra Kay Scott pursued an additional bachelors degree in History at Georgia State University after securing a B.S. in Psychology from Louisiana State University and a Paralegal Certificate. She has completed course work for a Masters in History at Georgia State and successfully completed the oral examination.

Sandra Scott is enjoying her tenth year teaching students from Stone Mountain High School. She has taught the following subjects: Citizenship, Economics, World History, Accelerated World History, Advanced Placement European History, United States History, and Advanced Placement United States History. Currently, Scott is instructing students in United States History, Advanced Placement United States History and Economics. She has volunteered to be an advisor but entertains offers to coach many sports every year. Scott’s duties included: Junior Advisor responsible for securing and supervising the Junior/Senior Prom with her colleague, Dave LaBarrie; Senior Advisor in charge of Senior Cotillion and Graduation; Model United Nations Advisor, and National Honor Society Advisor. Ms. Scott currently maintains the last two advisory positions.

Travelling with students, Scott visited England, France, Switzerland, Italy, Greece and Washington, D.C. Her students want to consider Boston or Philadelphia this year as a group trip.

She and Knowledge Loom panelist, Carol Sue Harless, the school's library media specialist, collaborated on a very successful cross-curricular literacy project at Stone Mountain High School.
